Valley View Granite

After a year and a half of working at Valley View Granite yesterday was my official last day! It was a bitter sweet moment. I loved working there; I loved the people, how relaxed it was, how easy of a job I had, how they were willing to work around a high schoolers schedule. I loved how we would tease each other each and every day! How every time I passed Bryce he will yell, "SHUT UP DARCI" or "GROW UP DARC" then how every time I was around PO he would pester me, he would put me in a head lock, stick his fingers in my ears and basically treat me like I am his little sister. I loved going out to the shop, Daryl would yell "HELLO LADY!" And franticly wave while everyone else looked up from their project, smiled, say hi, and wave as I would pass by. I love how the job gave me time to sit and reflect on my life, it gave me my thinking time! ha I loved how whenever I had a question Blaine would be so nice and willing to help me. My job made me fall in love with granite. I better marry someone rich cause I already have my dream kitchen all picked out! Overall it has taught me work ethic, working as a team, having a boss, noticing what needs to be done and doing it, and how to treat people with respect even when they arent respectful back. I remember my second day of work getting chewed out over the phone, I was about ready to cry! Then Blake and Bryce both called the guy back and chewed him out for me! It was only my 2nd day and they already were sticking up for me and telling me I needed to stick up for myself! I LOVE ALL MY CO-WORKERS! Working at Valley View have been quit the adventure and a blessing in my life! I have loved it!

Inspired

Ever since I was in about 4th grade I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life inspiring people and making a difference in the world. It just seemed like part of my nature and that is all I really wanted to do. Whenever someone asked me what I wanted to do when I grow up the first thing that popped into my head was motivating others. Of course I would say something like being a social worker or being a psychologist but being a motivating leader is always what I have dreamed about doing. I wanted to change people’s lives. I have spent 8 years trying to figure out how and I still don’t have an answer. But I know somehow, someway it is going to happen.
This past weekend I have spent it as YCC (Youth City Council) Conference. It was more fun than I can even put into words. I love Garland City Youth Council, we are THE BEST!! But as I sat there for 3 days listening to people inspire me about being a leader and making a difference in the world I have had more motivation than ever before that NOW IS MY TIME TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE! I often ask myself a simple question, “What would I do if I wasn’t afraid of failure?” This question almost haunts me. It keeps me awake at night. I am a dreamer, but I let failure stand in my way of fulfilling my dreams that seem almost impossible to accomplish. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “You must do things you think you can’t!”
Since the summer before my freshman year I have had a dream and HUGE desire to go do humanitarian work in a 3rd world country. This to me seemed impossible, out of reach, and at times really scary. But NOW is my time to take action. Summer of 2014 I am fulfilling my desire; I am spending my summer helping those who are less fortunate than I am. I remind myself daily to BE BRAVE! Life can be scary but if you are brave you can do wonders. In my opinion the secret to living is giving!
Everyone is who we are and go through certain experiences for a reason. We all have great things to accomplish that only we can do. We were born at the right place at the right time for a reason! You never know what you can do to help another person. Have no doubt that you can do things other people can’t. One determined person can make a significant difference. Our best focus at this very moment has the potential to put us in the best place for the next moment. Never give up on what matters most in your life, don’t let bad days turn into bad weeks! There are so many amazing things in the future, make a difference in the world! Over the past couple years I have been inspired to make a difference by so many people. Inspire others, stand out, and always remember YOU MATTER!
Things got a little Cray Cray at YCC with these two!

Representing Garland well...We are the BEST!

Sister Elaine says it better than anyone else :)
